Alex McGee serves as Group Director for External Affairs at the Coca-Cola Company. In this role, Alex helps develop strategies and priorities as the Company works on critical issues of interest with elected officials, policymakers, and non-profit organizations in Georgia. Joining Coca-Cola in September of 2023, Alex also collaborates with Coca-Cola bottlers and suppliers to highlight and advance key priorities for the full Coca-Cola system. Alex began his career in 1994 working for the late U.S. Senator Paul Coverdell (R-GA), serving in a range of leadership positions until 2000. Following Senator Coverdell’s passing, Alex was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as liaison to the U.S. Congress with a focus on energy policy and helping to lead efforts for the administration in the passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, at the time the most comprehensive energy legislation in 25 years. After serving in the Bush Administration, Alex served as Director of Government Affairs for Georgia-Pacific and Koch Companies Public Sector in Washington D.C., before returning to Georgia to represent clients as a member of the public policy team at McKenna, Long & Aldridge, which later merged with the global law firm, Dentons. In 2017, Alex took on a new role as both Vice President for External Affairs and the inaugural Chief of Staff at Kennesaw State University. During his tenure at KSU, Alex helped to lead the institution through a period of explosive enrollment growth, provided support to the mission of the university as it responded and adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic, and helped execute strategies to advance priorities before the University System of Georgia Board of Regents and the Georgia General Assembly. A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, Alex is a Georgia native and serves as a member of the Buckhead Lions Club and a volunteer coach with Buckhead Baseball. Alex and his wife, Michelle, reside in Atlanta with their two sons.
